GW 11 Statistics

In this post, I take a look at the results of GW11 for 2 different random samples of 10,000 FPL teams. Because of the law of large numbers, results are very similar and reflect the overall FPL game data. From next week and on, I think I’m rather going to post data for one random sample and the sample of the top 10K teams.

These stats are based on post-GW samples, i.e. with the effects of auto-substitutions, I’m going to post pre-GW statistical data in the future which would better reflect initial choices

TRANSFERS AND TEAM VALUE

  • An average manager made approximately 0.75 transfers last week. Over 10% of managers took a point hit. So, if you took a point hit last week, you were left behind by 90% of the managers at the start of the week.
  • 40% of all managers have already played their wildcards. 1% are playing it during this international break. The rest still have it available.
  • An average manager has earned around ₤0.6m in team value since the start of the season.

TRANSFERS MADE

63% of managers didn’t make a single transfer last week. This could be an indicator of a high proportion of inactive managers and dead teams.

CAPTAINCY

‘Most-captained: van Persie’. This is what we got used to see on the status page of the game at the start of the season. For some reason, the FPL towers have decided to get rid of this indicator and replaced it with an annoying video which starts to play every time you visit the main page. Meanwhile, things have changed. With the high price tag, dragging injury concerns, and his team struggling, RvP has lost his positions as Luis Suárez established himself as the new ‘most-captained’ icon.
