GW 12 Results – Saturday

It’s Saturday night, the time for first intermediate results for GW12. I take a look at 2 samples: randomly selected 20,000 FPL teams and the top 10,000 FPL teams. The law of large numbers ensures that we can make inferences about the overall FPL league based on the statistics for the random sample.

SUMMARY

  • 7 games out of 10 have finished, 7.4 players out of 12 per average team have played. In the top 10K, the results are higher, but there are less players left to play.  Only around a half of all teams had their captains play today.

10 PLAYERS CONTRIBUTING THE MOST TO THE AVERAGE

  • A lot of popular attacking players performed well today. Suarez, Sturridge and Giroud were the 3 most popular captain picks who played today and all of them delivered. Lukaku has recently lost a lot of owners, but his ownership is still high enough to add 2.7 points to the global average.
  • Top 10K had the same heroes, but in a different order. Luiz Suárez scored 11.8 points per average team in the top 10K.  This corresponds to over a quarter of an average player’s score. 18.5% of the managers in this sample bought Remy before this GW, 9.6% captained him. He didn’t disappoint having scored 9 points, or 3.0 points per team on average.

AVERAGE POINTS PER TEAM BY LINE IN FORMATION

  • Forwards are doing extremely well once again having already scored 15.7 points on average. With RvP, Aguero, Rooney yet to play this week, they will definitely beat their last week’s 18 points.
  • This week is a rare one for this season when midfielders outscore defenders. Everton and Southampton defenders are the most popular in the game and they disappointed their owners today.
